Hello. My name is Ruth Gregory and I am native of Asheville, North Carolina. I recently moved back to the area to be married and I couldn’t be happier! I love this city and I am thrilled to be close to my family again.
I am a journalist by trade. I earned a bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Georgia and I have spent the majority of my career honing this skill in the world of Marketing & Communications, specifically with academic and non-profit organizations. I am the person who writes, edits, designs, and crafts your message for your particular target audience(s). I specialize in digital/social media, printed collateral, graphic design, web development, user interface, brand identity, Search Engine Optimization, and photography. I am also very skilled in both fundraising capital campaigns and public relations campaigns.
In my most recent position with Kanuga Conferences, I wrote and published content for the organization’s multiple digital media outlets. This included web sites and social media sites for Kanuga Conferences, Camp Bob, Trailblazers, the Mountain Trail Outdoor School, and Camp Kanuga. I developed a new web site and menu structure for the Camp Kanuga program to improve user interface and brand identity. My other responsibilities included photography, graphic design, and writing/editing press releases and articles for catalogs, annual reports, newsletters and e-newsletters.
Prior to my position with Kanuga, I worked in Marketing & Communications at Georgia Tech for 12 years. In my most recent position at GT, I served as communications director for the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, managing all communications efforts for the School and its administration. This position worked with a wide variety of target audiences, focusing on technical writing for fundraising initiatives and the development of communications materials in the form of social media, graphic design, brochures, newsletters, annual reports, fact sheets, presentations, articles for publication, logos, and websites.
I have been writing for a long time and I love it! I possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to understand complex and/or highly technical ideas and programs and to communicate them in lay terms. I have extensive project management and event planning skills, with a proven ability to inspire confidence in customers and gain trust through attentive service and efficient-problem solving. My technical skills are extensive, including but not limited to:
- numerous graphic design, web development, and video editing software applications such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Flash, and Dreamweaver
- content publishing software and coding including Drupal, WordPress, WoodWing, and CSS/HTML
- all programs within Microsoft Office Suite
- Advance Fundraising & Donor Relations software and Banner
- enterprise-based software including SAP and PeopleSoft
- Mac/PC platforms
